Summer makes me happy and I could not be any more excited about teaming up with hayneedle.com and 5 other super talented bloggers, most of which you may have already checked out! If your visiting for the first time my name is Nicole, better known as @myautumnfarmhouse on Instagram. Welcome to my Summer Home Tour.
I was especially excited about working with hayneedle, I was able to find some great pieces that were exactly what I was looking for. My goal for the summer was lighter, brighter, and whiter with a few pops of color. Normally I am not one to add color, but in the summer I just can’t resist cool blues and aqua. This year I was also super inspired to incorporate lemons, and I can’t wait to show you. But hey you know what? The wait is over…lets get to it! I’ll show you around and then at the end I will link some of my favorite pieces.
I feel like we should start in my favorite spot on the tour, our master bedroom. We just made a few changes by adding shiplap and drop cloth curtains, and I’m so happy with the way it is turning out. It went from just a place to sleep, to a space that I have actually come to enjoy.
I knew I wanted to finish it off by adding some texture with a pretty farmhouse style quilt set. I had the look I was going for in my head, and I was over the moon when I found exactly what I wanted at hayneedle. I couldn’t be happier with it, it’s lightweight enough for the summer months and the price couldn’t be beat. (Also, if your interested in purchasing this bedding…you can take an extra 10%off until 6/25 using code BEDROOM10 the link is at the end.)
I also changed out our cozy winter sheets and you can just barely catch a peek of the ticking blue striped ones from Target. Another Target score, that I even found on clearance, is that textured ruffle pillow you see front in center. The décor is kept simple, with a little “calm”ing reminder from Rae Dunn and a dainty floral bunch from Michaels, and I also had set aside this woven tray from TjMaxx because I feel like it was just meant for summer. Moving on from here, lets head downstairs to the heart of the home…our kitchen.
One of my favorite things about our kitchen, is our aqua colored island. It just so happens to coincide perfectly with what I had in mind for summer. My farmhouse tiered tray and mug rack are a few of my favorite pieces to switch up for the season. For the tray, some aqua colored accents and a few lemons here and there. Then for the mug rack I added a garland from Michaels with some greenery and simple white flowers.
Another thing…which may sound weird, my hand soap has to match the season. Crazy, I know. So imagine my excitement to find a pretty looking lemon scented soap at Marshalls. It really is the little things. Speaking of the little things…these faux lemons, also from Marshalls, were a little plain so I added some green leaves to them and I love them that much more.
Keeping with the lemon theme, I couldn’t resist adding them to this summer tablescape in our dining room. The runner I just absolutely fell in love with, hayneedle for the win again. In the summer we eat outside most of the time which means I can keep the table looking pretty, and I can have white pillows on my chairs if I want, yet another score from hayneedle. Check out that embroidered detail! These versatile pretties will be making their way all around the house for sure, you may already recognize them from the bedroom.
I also added some simple white flowers to our vintage scale. I had said in the beginning that my goal was to whiten and brighten, so I swapped out the heavy tan curtains that were in here for the same drop cloth curtains that we have in the bedroom. These were the easiest things ever and you can find my step by step tutorial here.
If you haven’t figured it out by now, I sorta have this thing for neutrals. Our living room is normally my neutral haven…but I decided to add these fun aqua pillows that tie right in with the rest of the summer décor, and there are those pretty white pillows again from hayneedle.
After long summer days spent at the beach, I feel like this is the perfect oasis to come back to relax. Most nights this is where you can find me with my feet up doing some Insta scrolling. So how fitting that this is where we conclude our tour. I hope you enjoyed it, and I hope you also got a chance to check out the other 5 amazing bloggers too.
