Welcome to part two of my Spring Home Blog Series, I’m so excited you guys came back. I wanted to take you on a little spring home tour and show you what I’ve been up to. In New England it feels like winter is the longest season ever. I think that’s what makes me the most excited about decorating for spring, its like an awakening. It really doesn’t take much to refresh a space for spring. So if you have a few minutes, grab some coffee and I’d love to show you around.
While I’d love to start out on our front porch, it’s way to cold for that. I’m in New England remember…while it might be spring inside, it certainly isn’t spring outside. So how about we start in the kitchen and make our way around from there. A few things I want to make sure I mention about decorating in the kitchen. (ha that rhymes) Anyways…first is while I always enjoy having a fresh bouquet of flowers in the house, I can’t stress how much I enjoy it even more in the spring. There is something about a nice clean kitchen, a fresh bouquet of flowers, and the sun shining through the windows. Fresh flowers have to be the cheapest and by far the easiest way to cheer up your home after a gloomy winter. Next is a fresh rug…weird right?! A hope I am not the only one who thinks this. We get a lot of traffic in our kitchen, it is probably where we spend the most time, and the rug in front of our sink shows it. I have 3 kids including my husband, a dog, a cat, and chickens…add that to the salt and sand of a New England winter and you have a whole bunch of grimy dirty feet and paws for that matter, trotting around the kitchen. So come March…ok maybe February, I am ready for a new sink and entryway rug. The one I got this year was from Homegoods and the natural jute was exactly what I was looking for. So lets recap…fresh flowers and a new rug. Kitchen done…well almost.
Two of my favorite areas to style in our kitchen is my coffee rack and tiered tray. Since adding a garland to the mug rack this winter, I have come to the conclusion that I just can’t let her go naked. I found this floral garland at Michaels and it was love at first sight. It was pretty much the inspiration for my entire spring makeover. I am having a moment right now with pretty pink florals, and I have to admit I don’t hate it. I carried the same theme over to my favorite farmhouse tiered tray, adding a few pops of pink.
The same goes for my spring tablesetting. Galvanized chargers, and a simple white linen napkin with a pink bloom for some color.
Moving around into the living room, is a little DIY project that I’m pretty excited about. My friend Monique, who you can also find on Instagram @thethankfulfarmhouse, gave me the inspiration to create this 3D wall feature. The base layer is a chippy antique window, and I hung the ceramic bloom plaque that was from Target last year. Then I took apart a few floral bouquets from Michaels, and randomly placed them on the wall with Washi tape, also from Michaels. Then to go along with the “spring in bloom” theme, I added some aged terra cotta pots, a cute vintage inspired mister from Michaels, and my Rae Dunn bird house.
Last but not least, the living room. I refreshed this space with a few new pillows, this seed one is my new favorite and also fits right into my spring theme. Again with the fresh flowers, I am loving the grey buffalo check and purple flower combo. Then I swapped out my wood tray for this basket tray from target. Besides wanting to add a few light pink blooms to the galvanized wall hangers, I think that’s pretty much it.
I hope this little tour was helpful and left you with a few ideas. I was originally going to save all of my source info for next weeks post, but I think I will add a few items from this post down below. Just scroll and click on the items your interested in and it will take you right to the page to purchase. Next weeks post will still be all about spring shopping sources. I’m still trying to work out all of my ideas, but I’m thinking I will put together a few inspiration boards. So I’d love to hear what you think, and as always if there is something specific you would like to see just let me know!
XoXo
Nicole
