Spring Home Series (Part One)- Cleaning Tips and Checklist

by My Autumn Farmhouse Leave a Comment

So with spring right around the corner, I thought I would do a little Spring Home Blog Series. Initially it started as a spring tour and then I thought maybe I should extend it into spring cleaning tips and checklists and then a shopping segment with sources too. So I’m thinking it will be a three part segment, this being the first.

Spring cleaning can be daunting, especially if you just don’t know where to start or how to make it more enjoyable. In New England our winter is far too long, so with the first sun-shiney day I’m ready to take it on. I’ve found three things that work for me that I thought I would share. They are simple things…things I have probably shared before, but nonetheless here it is again.

I think the first two sort of go together, music and pretty smells. There it is. Two things that can get me through any household task. So simple right?! Maybe you already do these things…but to those of you who don’t, try it! Pandora and Mrs. Meyers will change your outlook on cleaning, I guarantee it! I have a thing for pretty smells…I always have to have candles burning, scented hand and dish soaps, and laundry detergents. Same thing goes for my cleaning products. I use the Mrs. Meyers brand from Target, and I know a lot of you do to. It is life changing. So grab your scenty cleaner, crank the Pandora and lets do this. Oh and I don’t mean just simply turn on some music, I mean like open those windows, turn up the volume and let your neighbors know your “gettin’ jiggy with it”. This is a judgment free zone friends. Now lets move on.

The third and final thing that I have found to make things easier is a checklist. I mean come on there had to be a checklist right?! It was in the title. I’m a lister. I make lists about my lists. I know, I hear what’s going on in your head…yes there are diagnosis’ for that. It just helps me to stay focused and on task. I think when it comes to a full down and dirty cleaning it helps to have a room by room to-do list. (That’s right, that’s what I call anything other than tiding up…its the down and dirty clean) In case I loose you somewhere halfway through the living room, I’ll just wrap up now. Like I said this will be a three part series. Next week I’m going to take you on my spring home tour and show you the little ways I freshen things up for spring and how you can do it for little to no money! So I hope you will check back next week for that and feel free to leave me some feedback…what you thought about this post, things you would ad, or something you would like to see in the future. Now without further adieu, here is my room by room cleaning checklist.

XoXo
